what else?

We cannot believe what just happened. We popped Miss T into bed for her afternoon nap. We said good night or in fact 'night night bubba, night night'. We gave Miss T her precious Lambie and her beloved dummy. We left the room and commenced to recline on our couch for a breather. All very normal. We heard a little bit of chatter, a few little protests and a tiny thud. At that moment I put my money on Miss T giving the cot a little hit. Nothing too dramatic....we then heard a few more little thuds, looked at each other and say ' that's weird’ ‘what's that?' hubby said 'sounds like she is near?!' DON'T EVEN...

She was standing at her door!

Somehow our cheeky little monkey has climbed out(or fallen out)of her cot, shuffled to the door and called for us. All in her sleeping sack. Thank goodness for the manky mattress stored below her cot (you know, mumma’s occasional bed!) as it obviously lessened her fall as she made her escape.

Miss T what else have you got in store for us? What else?

Someones a little tired...it pays to sleep rather than escape!

whatever works

I have (yet again) found myself running around like a mad woman today while Miss T is in daycare. My days are numbered until that dreaded, I mean lovely thing called 'work' will start to take up some of my time so right now I feel like I need to conquer all. I have just sat down to have a breather from the chaos (self inflicted mind you) and of course the first thing to pop into my mind is ' I wonder how Miss T is getting on'.

Gosh I miss my monkey. Right this minute she feels physically so far away (although she is in fact only in the next street) and I can't help but giggle and reminisce about a few of the hurdles Miss T has put me through in the last week. What are some of these challenges you ask...oh you know, wanting to sleep with the car keys...being insistent on having every coffee cup in sight...and perhaps the most difficult at present... not only refusing to sit in her pram but insisting on pushing her pram while we walk. Difficult much?!

As they say, a picture tells a 1000 words...
One of many times she has slept with the car keys this week, bless x

A big shout out to the fabulous friend who taught this little skill! Thanks!

And what has Miss T taught me this week. Mumma just do WHATEVER WORKS!

jet plane

We are on the holiday countdown. 8 weeks till our first international holiday since Miss T was born. In fact as Miss T was a delightful honeymoon baby, the first international holiday since our wedding and honeymoon. Mumma is beyond excited and Miss T isn't going to know what hit her. She has turned into quite the water baby and that is exactly what this holiday is going to entail...
pool, beach, food, sleep, (cocktail for mumma), pool, food, sleep, beach, (cocktail for mumma), sleep...you get the picture. For those experienced mumma's and dadda's out there, I know what your thinking 'this isn't going to be like all your other holidays'. Yes yes your right I might be romanticising a little...no doubt included in our time line will be tantrums, night time wakings and the works but seriously why would I dwell on that! I do feel very sorry for the poor souls who board our plane but hey what can I do. All I can think about is breakfast being made for us EVERY morning and that overrides all.

So yesterday I took Miss T to get her passport photo taken ( something I have been planning to do for the last 4 months) and my goodness it was classic. My slightly cheeky child turned it on for the camera.
Miss T's passport photo- Picture perfect if I do say so myself

Now I might have borrowed the following from the lovely Angus and Julia Stone and the context is obviously different but I think they said (or sung) it perfectly...

I wanna hold her, I wanna kiss her
She smelled of daisies, she smelled of daisies
She drive me crazy, she drive me crazy
Gonna take her for a ride on a big jet plane
Gonna take her for a ride on a big jet plane
Hey hey

miss daycare...

I think I have been caught up in the busyness that is a 1 year old while adjusting to some of the changes that 2013 has already delivered...And as a result, I obviously have not quite processed that it is already Jan 13 - the middle of January and I have only done one lonesome post, which is silly really as so much has already happened. Probably the biggest of them all is that Miss T started daycare.

I now have a toddler...not a baby that's for sure, who 2 days a week goes to daycare and it sure has been an adjustment. Actually the adjusting has only just started and is no where near finished. I am feeling a tiny bit like a mean mumma but equality I am quietly excited for my day off  tomorrow (which I have no doubt will end up with me racing around like a maniac trying to change the world in just 6 hours). And I am reminding myself continually that daycare is great for her...for her social development, she will learn new skills (they are like little sponges right?!) and participate in all sorts of activities...blah blah blah...Miss T is slowly adjusting just like her mumma and she was certainly apprehensive and quite perceptive as we took our first steps towards the center the other day. I think this sequence of photos say it all.

It does makes me wonder just how many decisions am I going to make as a mumma that neither of us are totally thrilled about but probably are the best for us??? I'd love to hear any of your parental dilemma's if you would be willing to share..Yep mother's guilt has arrived. Stay strong mumma I keep reciting...stay strong

5 days of firsts

Talk about a jam packed start to 2013. In the first 5 days of 2013 Miss T, hubby and I have managed to squeezed in our first ever family holiday and Miss T's first birthday and we put on our first birthday party to celebrate our little monkeys birth. It has been fabulously busy.

Our first family holiday was terrific but at the same time a lovely little comedy of errors. Night one saw us lose the portacot - it was no where to be seen at 6.50pm with bedtime looming- turns out we left it in the carpark (luckily portacot was retrieved without too much hassle just in time to put Miss T to bed). Miss T then settle in for a long well earned sleep. It wasn't until we decided to head to bed that we realised that in the confusion of a new hotel room we had switched on the light in her bedroom at some point and Miss T was sleeping in a fully lit room. Serious chaos for such a poor sleeper! Night two Miss T was put to bed and hubby was sent to buy pizza while mumma sipped on champagne. In a nutshell- dadda split his pants on commute- arrived home in panic- only available pants were next to snoozing bubba (no idea mum and dad!)- order was forgotten by shop- and to top it all off pizza was atrocious. Oh and Night three didn't disappoint, poor Miss T appeared to have a bad reaction to nurofen (as the poor darling is cutting a tooth at the moment) and spent the entire night throwing up and screaming her lungs out. Poor room 2113 is all I've got say about that. Room 2112 apologises.

Following our little get away we celebrated the birth of Miss T on the 5th of January. We put on a little party at a local park and had a fabulous time. And I made my first ever cake from scratch! I big number 1. It made me feel like a real mumma actually. That night after giving Miss T some extra cuddles and kisses and popping her into bed, hubby and I reminisced about the year that was and started from the beginning watching video's and looking at photos of our angel as she grew. At 9.15pm I sipped champagne as I was seriously stoked that I was not pushing a baby out like I had at
that exact moment a year earlier. We therapeutically laughed about how dreadful it was ...The hubby kept saying ' yeah it was BAAADDD' (we mean that in the nicest way possible, of course it was wonderful as we now have Miss T), but SERIOUSLY...I would rather be sipping champagne!

Holiday relaxation

Miss T loved her new mirror friend while on holidays x

Pool side- we have ourselves a water baby
